New Boutique Hotel Opens in Downtown El Dorado
Newmark Moses Tucker Partners (NMTP) of Little Rock, Arkansas announced the opening of The Haywood, a 70 room, 4 story boutique hotel in El Dorado, AR. The hotel is located at 210 South Washington Avenue, just a block off El Dorado’s historic downtown square and immediately adjacent to the Murphy Art’s District (MAD).
The Haywood is developed by NMTP in conjunction with a group of local El Dorado investors. The $15.0 million project is the latest addition to the Tapestry Collection by Hilton.
The Haywood is a modern take on southern life and an ode to the culture, people and stories of South Arkansas.
“The Haywood is critical to the success of MAD,” said Madison Murphy, Chairman of the Board of Murphy USA. “It’s something special that will reflect the spirit of our dynamic city, and also fills the huge need we have for accommodations for our weekday business travelers.
“The hotel creates a cultural breezeway through this great community,” said Ray Nolan, Senior VP of Development with NMTP and the development team lead. “We’re fortunate to be a part of the inspiring work El Dorado has done with MAD.”
The Haywood will include The Well, a sophisticated bar with small tapas–style plates, cocktails, wine and craft beer. The Well will feature a welcoming space accented by dark, warm wood paneling and a wood-coffered ceiling. Connected to the bar is the hotel den, a comfortable, spacious room with a wood burning fireplace, sofas and lounge chairs where guests can relax and take in the open lobby view.
In addition, custom art from Arkansas artists will be featured throughout the hotel. Outside, just off the den, there will be an outdoor courtyard with a pool, as well as a porch along South Washington Avenue that overlooks MAD. Here, guests can enjoy a drink from The Well before catching a concert at the MAD amphitheater.
“What’s exciting about The Haywood is that it’s not just for out-of-towners,” said Greg Marquart, General Manager of The Haywood. “Locals can meet friends at The Well after work, or book it for special events.”
Architecture and interior design for The Haywood were provided by AMR Architects and Shelby Cotton, and the general contractor was Clark Contractors. Construction financing was provided by Bancorp South. The hotel will be managed by Beechwood-Pinnacle Hospitality. Greg Marquart will be the hotel’s General Manager.
